Hi Watch those iskra starters, They are pretty well a throw away unit when they go wrong. Our Valtra had one on it quit and I called the local guy. He
just laughed and said i'll sell you a new Bosch. From what he said Iskra is a copy of a Bosch made in infringement of copy right. every time Bosch
sues them. They change the design slightly, then parts for the previous model becomes obsolete. Then off they go again with a slightly different
design until they get sued again. The one on our Valtra had no parts available. I would pay the extra and get a bosch that parts are easy to find
from what my guy said. the one for our Valtra was $450 Canadian with taxes and next day air freight included. so I'm guessing you could buy a Bosch at
a good price and have a real good starter. I asked the guy if he wanted our old one for parts. He said no take it to the local boating pond and see
if anybody wants it to moor a small row boat to. In other words it was a boat anchor in his eyes.
regards Robert

That could be but I have been using them for about 8-9 years now and never had a failure with them, the one in the picture is going to replace a worn out Delco,,and they aren't much good for sure..

Hello Tim:

I thought the Nippondenso ones were the better ones to have than the delco? Who makes the gear reduction starters? Are they any good?

Yes Nippondenso are the better ones, much better than Iskra's but more expensive,, I use the Iskras's as a cheaper but good starter when converting to 12 volt, but yes Nippondenso are the best and they will wear out 3 Delco's.. but I have not replaced an Iskra since I started using them,, maybe just lucky, but I have used a lot of them here, they work very good on 3020's since the are a bit shorter it gives you more room at the fuel filters.

A gasser doesn't need cranking power. It needs 10-11 volts across the coil while cranking. A low capacity battery, high resistance connection or lousy cables will cause "voltage drop" ( VD )

They work well on 3020's but the starter drive may not match up on a gas, I know a gas fly wheel has a different number of teeth on it. Iskra starters are not "super" starters like reduction drive starters are, they are just a good basic starter for $350...

(quoted from post at 17:49:31 01/22/16) Tim,would one of those starters work on my 3020 gas, it needs more cranking power

Have you considered installing & utilizing a frt hyd pump destroking screw if one isn't already installed? Cost is about $15.
