For service manuals jdpubs.com [John Deere's site] , has best selection, AND 'highest' price; There are several places doing reprints,/ "But for an original 4440 owners manual, [new in plastic].. there one on e-bay 'now' for a bargain price/ 20/ ....... check e-bay [search 4440 man.] I get a lot of my shop manuals there; mostly used ,some new... hope this helps (PS you can download parts catalog on jdparts.com....

For best results use coolgard from Deere! As for
flushing I only use reverse osmosis water! Fill then
run it! Drain again. You really can't clean the
bottom around the cylinder liners! I wonder about
using cleaners if the cleaner is actually flushed from
the sediment around the liners. I'm my opinion it
could bring more problems.

Yes then need additives. The additives are in the
coolgard from Deere. Unless you have a screw on
additive filter!

The filters are not worth much,, the additives are better,, and it's a toss up on how much is around the liners, I have seen the muddied up half way on the liners and the next one clean as a pin...

Ok thanks everyone, I will use all factory fluids. Not sure what reverse osmosis water is i planned on distilled but ill use the other if i can find it.

Somehow this thread split in half not sure how I did that.

Im excited about working this tractor. Hope the whine I am hearing down low on rear housing while idling is nothing. I am always a little nervous about buying used equipment especially as I am new to these tractors.
