4520 injector pump leaking

The injector pump on our 4520 has started to leak around the stem that connects to the throttle linkage as seen in picture. Is this repairable on the tractor or am I going to have to pull the whole pump? Thanks

There is an oring behind it. Our 69 4020 did the same and it was a quick fix. Just removing that screw would get you there.

The rack gear has two O rings, one on each side. One or both are leaking now because there's another O ring inside the tube that's leaking too, allowing fuel to get to the rack. Complete seal kits are available for the CB pump, but that's about it anymore.

It seems I remember hearing about an upgraded pump to replace this one that would be better. Can you provide any info on that ?

Yes, there's a Stanadyne JDB pump to replace the CB pump. JD used to have complete kits available with pump, all lines and accessories needed. Not sure if they still do. The pump you have may work a long time if filters are serviced, but when it dies it's done. I still reseal two or three a year, probably lasting longer as more are not the main work horse anymore.

JD no longer offers pump & lines update kit. I'd suggest to contact a salvage yard if you desire a DB pump. Below is just a pump from JD

Our 4520 is doing same thing. Didn't quite understand where the O rings are. Sorry a bit slow.
Are the O rings on the vertical part or horizontal part?
We would like to up the HP any ideas on this pump?

Peat, I just got mine back from the shop and had it cleaned, resealed, and calibrated. If i understand it right, there are two o rings on the horizontal part and one at the bottom of the vertical part. There is a little rack and gear in there that wears and my local shop happened to have one still on the shelf and was able to replace it. He said there was nothing else left parts wise to get for them. Mine was in good shape otherwise, but 2,000 for the new pump and lines if it wasn't.
