820 valve recession spec

Does anyone have a valve recession spec
for the 820 2 cylinder diesel. None of
my manuals has it. Thanks

Pages 60-30-1 through 60-30-2 of SM2021 cover most of the main diesel engine specs.
They did not place the valve specs back on 60-10-3 & 4 with the rest of the cylinder head instructions.

Don't see it in the sm2021. Bill

I thought you can test for that by the installed height which is to be the same as the height listed to check the valve spring pressure at.
I have not tried this myself yet but learned of that here on these forums.

I think the problem with that is that I have resurfaced the head and I am fairly sure it has been done before. The installed height wouldn't account for the material removed from the head. But I think it might get me close. Thanks for the idea.

I guess on these 2cyl. I didn't worry too much about it if the seats didn't looked ground down much and since the heads are usually needing planed off some it all equaled out. I never saw any such specs. on 2 cyl. tractors. But I learned of that method here which is to help you know how far they might be off. I have yet to try it as I have not had one apart for several years.
The 2 cyl. always seemed to not have starting problems. I've even had some in VERY bad shape start right up.

That's good info to know, thanks a lot for passing it along to me. I am definitely going to give that method a try.
