1790 JD Planter calibration and closing wheels

I have a vacuum metered 16/32 planter with ESET. I was wondering how often you calibrate the row units? Also, have any of you switched from the solid rubber closing wheels to one of the steel or poly tined wheel to break up the covering soil better than the rubber wheels? Some test plots I have read about show big potential yield increase with the tined closing wheels vs the rubber.

I have used e-sets on my 1760 for several years and wouldn't plant corn without them. Don't know your acres but may need redone every three or four years. I noticed my corn stand wasn't what I wanted a year ago. Had the meters redone at the dealer. He replaced singulators and the "knock-out" clip. Worked great again in '15. FWIW I still use rubber closing wheels and am reasonably satisfied.
