'1959 JD 430 what's it worth?

Saw this on local craigslist today and wondering what you folks in the know think it might be worth. Owner says it runs good and drives good.
He didn't post a price so nor sure what he is asking yet. Thanks a bunch.

It was on ebay opening bid 2500 or buy it now 3300 which it is worth more than 3300. Someone bid on it now the auction has ended early assume local sale as that was mentioned as an option in the listing. My appraisal 4500.

I see about $2000 worth. Course that's just my opinion and I learned long ago it only matters to me. I would plan on a minimum of $300 in parts right off the bat & that excludes tires.

If it runs good, and if the transsmission is quiet, and if the TOM works like it should I would give $3000 for that tractor. Rear tires also have to look as good in real life as the pictures. I also have been looking for a decent 420/430 for a while to put to work, not to show so I am willing to pay a bit more than others at this point.

well ya I would hope so. you are buying a 1959 430 standard. the last of the classic 2 cylinder dubuque tractor and again a STANDARD as well as something that you can really use around the farm.
Seems like the offers suggested on here would hardly buy a complete john deere M or 40 not running.
that tractor around here in ontario canada would have a bidding fist fight war at nothing less than 5500 bucks
they are very sought after. yes it may need a new battery cover and a light lense or a front emblem. the seat isnt right, not the alternator, but them things are all replaceable and doesnt affect the operation of the tractor.
Now I am assuming that it has a tag, no cracked block, or not wore out and the rear tires are not about to fall off.
but look closer, sheet metal fairly straight, no cloride in rear rims at least not rotted out, original top link.
Looks like to me that was the deal of the day and no wonder there is people still looking for one if they only want to make that kind of an offer.
this was the barn fresh deal that got away.

If you or anyone is interested in this tractor Its listed in Meridian,Ms.craigslist. I'm not going to buy it myself. I like unstyled tractors.

Makes a difference on the options . A five speed with live pto is worth much more than a four speed trans driven pto. Power steering, float ride seat and SCV are another price booster.

That's a lot of if's and you forgot the steering. LOL

Might want to look at the rr tire again. It's bad and leaking air so he overinflated it.

This one looks to me like it's been rode hard and put up wet like most of them around here are. Mabie I'm looking too close?

430's are 3 to 5 tops so you can't put 3 grand in one and another 2 to 3 grand just fixing it to have a good worker. Anything more and you should move on to a NG cause they just ain't worth it for what they can do. JMO
