1020 3pt arms leaking

The 1020 started leaking where the draft links or 3 pt arms attach to the case of the tractor the other day. There was a puddle as big as a 5 gallon pail over a week. I was assuming there is something in the case to hold back hydraulic oil like a seal. After quite a while looking at parts diagrams I came up with the parts diagram shown here which is the transmission case. Is parts key 14 really the only thing that is in there? Part # is t22653 which is called a plug. Somehow I don't feel like this is what I should order up. Am I just not finding the right spot to look for this?

Area leaking oil is called load control shaft. Put L/D lever under seat in "D" before removing shaft. Check shaft for wear in seal area. After seals & shaft are reinstalled shim out side motion of shaft.

Thanks Jim. I looked at that diagram too but it just didn't click for some reason. There is play in the draft links at the case, about 1/2 an inch so I will shim that up while apart.

As old as that tractor is you might have wear in the shaft and bushings too ? When I did our 4020 it got everything the second time around as the first time seals just were not enough.

When you have the oil out would be a good time to check the hydraulic oil inlet screen in the bottom of the transmission case too.

On the list as well as a new tranny filter. The prior owner changed the fluid when he got the tractor but did not use it much. When I asked if he checked the sump screen he was baffled what I was talking about so he never checked or cleaned it. Hopefully it isn't a mess!

I was just looking at it all thinking the same but the price tag comes up to $287.34 to get the shaft, bushings, etc. The load shaft itself is $121. Not sure, but I am thinking I may be able to have the load shaft sleeved if it is not too wore out instead of buying a new one and that should keep the cost down some. I guess I will have to get into it and see what is wore out before I can make that decision.

Thanks Jim I will keep this in mind. I guess first step is going to be take everything apart and get out the calipers and start measuring before I order new parts.

Is there a parts list for this diagram? I lost my Collar and the shaft came partially out. A friend of mine says I should replace the seals and bushings but I do not know where to look for a diagram.
Thanks
Doug
