JD 7800 3-pt hitch issue

We put the snow blower on the 7800 today. When we try to lift the hitch it chatters and tries to lift and after a few seconds then suddenly lifts right up. We changed both hyd filters and the oil is up to the full mark. The remotes seem to work normally. Does anybody have any experience with this symptom?

in the Differential Case there is a screen that could need to be cleaned http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.HomePageServlet?search

I would lean more to it being a hitch valve issue as you say the other hydraulics are working OK. The hitch light on the dash is not lit is it? I would consider doing a hitch calibration otherwise....its easy if you have the operations and tests manuals.

OK if the light has been or is on means the Hitch Control Unit (HCU) is setting a code. I will try to go from memory on how to tell you how to retrieve the code: Key off, remove fuse box cover and install 10 Amp fuse in the "DIA" only port. Turn key to "on" dash will display "DIA" bump the turn signal switch up (like right turn) until "HCU" shows on dash display. Then pull the turn signal back towards you and release.bump up one more time and number(s) will start showing.Record these number(s) they are the codes. Turn key off and remove fuse.
You will need access to an operations and test manual to tell you what the codes are. The hitch position feedback sensor was a fairly common issue on these tractors. You can replace it easily but the HCU will still need to be calibrated.

First off Let me say I am just being a Smart A but while reading this i could not help but think of setting my VCR and the instructions for setting a digital watch. My question is while doing this do you have to wear one shoe and stand on your head facing east with one eye closed ?? LOL

I just couldn't resist

Yes I know it sounds complicated but after doing a few hundred it becomes automatic. I will admit the electronic side of the business was not my favourite.
