JD 2030 Clutch Shaft Splines (Picture)

Hello there! During a clutch replacement on a 2030, I ran across the wear on this clutch shaft. I advised the customer to replace the shaft. He wants to know if he can get ~1,000 out of it with a new clutch the way it is. Opinions? :D

 

You wouldn't advise replacing it? It looks to me like it would wear down the female splines on the clutch disc quickly.
 
I would replace it,,but I have seen worse,and they weren't causing any extra trouble, I think that shaft will pull out the front,, I know it will com out the rear, but that would be another split...

I [i:64acc334aa]think[/i:64acc334aa] I remember needing to split the clutch housing from the transmission to pull the clutch shaft...memory fuzzy.

I'm thinking the inner bushing keeps it from coming forward....I just had a 2030 apart and it came out the rear for sure...

3 T23062 ROUND RETAINER ...possibly...

 
I would wait until you have to split it at the tran.
It will work OK the way it is but might make a little
noise at low speed.
