Fuel Automatic Shut-Off

I am rebuilding an automatic fuel shut-off and the pressure plate and valve spring retainer have deteriorated from rust and time. I think they were plated when new. The two parts together from the dealership are over $50.00. The other parts are reasonably priced. I know about aftermarket options for the whole device for $150.00, but I want to use this one. I can clean up the old parts, but I think the steel will continue to rust and clog up the carburetor. Is there a product to paint or coat these parts with that is gasoline resistant?

Only coating I can think of would be gas tank sealer ?
Maybe scout around for another used assembly ?

Get rid of it before it leaks gas in your oil and ruins engine!
