Set down box blade after using and suddenly the arms on the 3 point hitch would not come up.
Moved on and hooked up pull type bush hog. Cut grass 10 min and the PTO stopped turning.
Neither have worked since, so I have just been using the bucket on the tractor. The bucket works fine.
Looking for suggestions.

How long since hyd filter was changed & trans screen checked/cleaned? Does power steering operate correctly? It's possible pto disk hub stripped out stopping trans pump from pumping hyd oil & pto from operating.

The PTO could and probably is the shift pin up inside, pull the stub shaft off and stick a dime in the center of it with sticky grease put it back on tight and see if it works, what this does is pushes the shift rod in a bit farther and could buy you some time,, as for the 3pt,,maybe the stand by pressure is below 1750psi and the priority valve has shut the rear functions down, and maybe the load shaft follower got flipped over and out of track,, I don't know how this happens but I have seen it a few times..

I have never changed hyd filter or trans screen. Where are these located?

Is the stub shaft the PTO extending out the rear of the tractor?
Is the dime placed on the end of the shaft?
Thanks

Interesting.
Sometime prior to the PTO and hyd failure, the bolts had worked out the back at the PTO shaft and the shaft had slipped out a little. I pushed the PTO back, put in new bolts and thought everything was OK. This may had the beginning of my problem?
Thanks

Yes it was the beginning of your PTO issue,, the pto clutch has nothing to do with the transmission charge pump, the dime is stuck in the inside center lined up to push the shift pin in a bit farther, this don't work 100% of the time but a good 30%, and then it just buys a little time, I have seen the last a year or so before..

Thanks for correcting my mistake on how trans pump is driven. Oldtimers must have overruled my common sense. I always used a penny instead of a dime when shimming pto shift pin.
