JD 4030 Cab weather stripping

I have a John Deere 4030 that my father purchased new. I had somone restore and some things I am not happy with. The weather stripping on the door was perfect and door shut tight. I did not ask him to replace, but he did and charged me a Big Price. Now, no matter what adjustment I make the stripping is too thick for the door to close as it should. Are there different thickness weather strippings for the cab doors on this tractor. It is the newer style cab. The tractor is a 1977 year model.

Thank You.

You can go to www.jdparts.co and look up for yourself if there were any serial # breaks in the door weatherstripping, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say someone installed some aftermarket stuff that isn't quite getting the job done.

I replaced the weatherstripping on both my 4630s and both doors went from shutting to a struggle to get latched, even on the loosest latch setting. one's been done for over a year, and the other about 6 months, and no improvement. Also was JD weatherstripping. I'd love a solution to this problem as well.

When I re-did the 4430 cab for my 6030 build, I also bought all the weatherstripping through deere. The stuff that went around the windows worked perfect. But the part that goes around the door ended up being way too thick and would not let the door close. I mean it wasn't even close. Plus it was a mess because the deere strip has to be glued in place. I think the difference is that the earlier cabs used a foam type seal that is thinner and the later cabs used rubber seals that were thicker. The only version that deere offers now is the thicker rubber kind.

So what I did was strip all that off around the door. I found a place that makes Peel and Stick rubber weathership. They have all different extruded shapes you can buy. I don't remember the exact part number I used around the door but it worked perfect and it just sticks into place (versus glueing and tyring to hold it while it sets). In the corner, I cut a 45 on each peice and once the pieces were in place, I used the weatherstrip adhesive to glue edges together. Worked very well. In fact, it worked so well that I pulled the dash out of the cab and used the large round extrusion to replace the original U shaped seal that was beginning to rot out.

Here's the place I used. I will def. use them again because it's so easy to use being self-stick and pricing is much better than deere's.
