520 Oil Line

I am working on a 520 tractor that has a broken oil line, it runs from the oil pump up to the front side of the main case and feeds the rocker arm shaft. The part number is AB5046R and is no longer available. Is it possible to get this line made at a diesel shop?

IMHO, that line has little in common with a diesel injection line, since it is a thinwall steel line similar to automotive brake line with steel "glands" SOLDERED onto the ends.

The numbers for the glands and nuts have been posted before, but a quick search only turned up one size, for 5/16" line.

Is that what the line you need is?

They are available from DEERE, but pricey, as well as the usual restoration sources.

Gland part # E2150R

Nut part # A2069R

HOPEFULLY, 5/16" is what you need, and you can get two glands and two nuts and some 5/16" steel brake line, cut it to length, clean the area to be soldered at each end down to clean, bare steel, then assemble the parts and solder the ends on with "Stabrite" or equivalent silver solder.

If NOT 5/16/ some searching might turn up other glands and nuts.

I have remade several of the JD lines before. I used to have a good assortment of used ones from A & B & 60 & 70 parted out over the years. Many times I'd just go "shopping" and fine one close to the right length and rebend it as needed. Other times I cut the old ends off flush where they meet the lines and then carefully chuck them in a lathe and bore out the old line. Then I can make a new line from copper or steel and solder it in place. Be sure to slide the nut on the line first ! LOL. Then another option is to get brake line and the matching fittings. The JD fittings are just pipe thread where they start and stop from. Or copper line and the matching fittings and flare it.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.....I had looked at the replacement gland nut but discounted it as they are larger ID than the line and was unsure about the thread size. It looks like I will try the drilling out of the old ones and soldering new line in AFTER the nuts are on (thanks for the reminder BTDT)
