Hi guys,
Thanks for your help in the past. I use Mobil Delvac 15w-40 in all of my diesel Olivers. Can I use it in my new to me 1977 JD 4430? Or should I use the recommended torq-gard. My other question is in regards to using a single action cylinder that the tail wheel on my plow uses. The way I understand the book is to use the the left outlet for either remote and hook the hose to that. Then I need to crawl under the tractor and back out a manual bypass valve 5 turns. Will mine have this? it is a 1977. Thanks for your help

Yes you can. I've been running Rotella in my 4430, 4640 and 4010 for years with no ill effects.
In the tranny though, I would stick with Hy-Gard.

I am not familiar with Mobil but there are 15W40 oils out there that are not diesel rated. Make sure it has a diesel rating and you should be alright. I second sticking with Hy Gard for the transmission-hydraulics.

We use all mobil products, and have for 40 plus years. The diesel grade Delvac 15w40 is a great oil for JD engines. We've also used a lot of Mobil 424 in place of Hy Gard as well.

There are many different oil brands that have similar quality and endurance,,you just have to learn which ones that are best, and remember John Deere does not own an oil refinery...and they do not make all their own parts....and yes a lot of those parts suppliers that Deere uses are in China...

We use Mobil Delvac 1300 15w40 in all engines except skid steers and loaders where we run full synthetic we also use Mobil's 424 hydraulic and have for 20 years and have been very happy
