JD 730 d question

Couple questions for uall:
1960 730d pony
I read something a while back on one of the forums, could have been this one? The subject was how to save the coils on the pony motors when you forget to turn off the switch from the I position. The author was suggesting to add a oil pressure switch to the pony to only supply power to coils after cranking has built oil pressure. Makes sense. However, wondering what you guys think of an alternative method on mine. Apparently the later models already have a pressure switch, and power is routed to the red low oil pressure light. If I add a normally closed relay, power to the contacts from the I terminal running to coils, and pick up power from low pressure light to unlatch the relay. Therefore, anytime the light was on,(ie: motor not running) the relay would be open and coil power would be disconnected. The full 6 volts would still be activated when the starter button depressed.
Am I missing anything?

2nd question:
Were 14" wide rims and 16.9-38 rear tires ever installed new on 730d s? It looks like the alternate larger side was 15.5-38

Please advise

:D

you do appear correct on that one. However, there appear to be inexpensive 5v relays even with adjustable potenteometers. It would seem with the low duty cycle of only comes on when let the motor die and forget to turn off the switch. Bad part, if relay burns up, the relay would go back to normally closed position and coils would burn up. I guess they're cheap, I could buy one and run an endurance test.

Yes, there was a post a while back describing how to wire in a relay in the oil light circuit. I installed one on a 730. Worked great.
