would you trade a 2010 diesel with rebuilt diesel pump and great tires, that runs for a none running 730lp.the 730 will need work.

Dang that is hard for me , what do you know about the 730 as you could put some $$$$ into it and go backwards

2010 row crops aren't real valuable but it's diesel , a 730 lp is or could be fairly valuable but both can cost a small fortune to fix if/when problems occur.

Kent: The starter you sent me for my 1950 A in Vermont is working like a charm! Hope all is well with you! LEN

It would hard for me to trade something running for something that's not. I've always heard 2010's were junk but never owned one.

I have a 1965 JD 2010 gas row crop. Owned it since 1971. It has been a great tractor with little issues, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

To me, soemthing does not add up. Why would soemone want to trade a 730LP for a 2010 known that the 2010's have a bad reputation? Maybe they accepted the fact that 730LP is going to bankrupt them if they fix it up?????

I guess it depends on how much money you are willing to spend on fixing the 730LP. It may only take a few bucks to fix if up or you may be in for a few thousands or even more.
No matter what desicion that you make, it will probably be the worng one.

Yup...
I think thats common knowledge that the diesels in the 1010 and 2010 were no good, just look at all the posts abotu them, but I am forsure that there are people out there that has had good luck with thiers.

There are a lot of opinions about both tractors, so it really depends on your needs and desires. As working tractors, the 2010 diesel has a very bad reputation, and LPG tractors have fuel handling problems, so neither is great but most people would prefer the 730 LPG over the 2010 D. As collector tractors the reverse could be true. The popularity of two cylinder tractors is waning as younger collectors are moving towards the new generation tractors. An increasing number of 730's will on the market as older owners and their estates sell off existing collections. I doubt there are a high numbers of 2010 diesel tractors available in either restored or un-restored condition.

Personally, I would want $3000 to $6000 plus the non-running 730 LPG to make that trade, because a running 2010 D will be more collectible in the future and a 730 could eat that much cash to restore it.
