JD model 40 Hydraulicsn Live or not

Sorry I am a Case guy but here is a JD 40 up for auction down the road tomorrow. Does it have live hydraulics??

Sure does, pump runs off the cam, so if the engine is turning, so is the pump.

Yes, agree with [b:654c4848f0]cole in mo.[/b:654c4848f0].

Take a look at the diagrams below.

Note the control lever (Key 24) and the quadrant (Key 28).

Take a look at the control lever on "Audie" our 54 Model 40S.

Note the control lever (Key 23) and the quadrant (Key 31).

Note the left control lever (Key 9), right control lever (Key 13), and the quadrant (Key 18).

Take a look at the control levers and quadrant on "BW" our 54 Model 40T.

My 1953 40S the hydraulics are live as the pump runs off the engine. The PTO is not, the clutch has to be let out for it to turn.
