Finished Project: John Deere #43 Corn Sheller

It took a couple years but I finally finished the JD #43 Sheller. A few other projects got in the way but was tired of tripping over the prepared pieces in the shop so I decided to make it a priority this fall. Everything was disassembled, cleaned, sandblasted, primed/painted, reassembled, repainted, final assembled, and decaled. I am awaiting a couple more decals to apply to the shields to make it officially finished -- but I couldn't wait to take pictures. Everything spins over good but I have not run any corn thru it yet. I also left a couple bullet holes in the corn hopper/on the cob elevator. . . I know they were not there from the factory but thought they were a cool part of the sheller's past. I like matching a period correct implement with each of my tractors; it looks happy with the 430 Utility.
Trying a new way of loading pictures to the post. . . hope it works!

Not only is the sheller looking great, great pictures too. Thanks for letting us see it.

All I can say is ( Mighty Fine ), to me that means a whole lot more than a excellent job...

Beautiful Job, You might think about taking it out to "The Gathering of the Green" next March. I am sure they would love to have it for their show. Tom

That is very nice,, some times it's a tougher job to restore equipment than it is a tractor. Old equipment is getting harder to find these days, it's ether rusted clear up or hauled off to scrap, as I go to the shows I find it intriguing to see equipment at them. The local tractor club is having tillage equipment to be the theme at the county fair next week, it is the last county fair of the year in Ohio, Lancaster Ohio

I appreciate all the positive feedback. The Ohio Two Cylinder Club will be hosting the every other year show at a new location in 2016 (Wooster, Ohio) and I hope to take a couple tractors there. . . its about 30 minutes or so from home. That was one of the incentives to try and get the sheller finished.

Looks good! Personally I'd much rather see something like that used as a demonstration (our small town has a "Pioneer Days Festival" with vintage ag equipment) than sitting in a museum. Just my .02
