Jd grill tool

Need to sraighten out a grill screen on a
50...not sure I want to spend the $40+
bucks on a grill tool for one time use.
Anyone got a set they would sell cheaper
or allow me to rent/use? Am around
central MN area.

I had the same reservations as you about the tool and it's price. I did break down and buy one. I was glad I did as it works great. You won't be sorry. Mike

Am making a lamp using the nose cowl so want to keep the old screens for their aged appearance just need to straighten. Am a Moline guy so th is is a one time use for such a tool for me.

Yes, you can make it out of hardwood easily. I made mine to straighten the grille screens on a 4650 but they work on a 630 too.

A 1/2" steel rod with another welded to it perpendicular to make a handle works good. That's how I straightened them 30 years ago in a dealership.

I took an old broom handle cut pieces about 6 inches long and shaped them into different angles to fit the screens. I've fixed lots of screens over the years.
