Loose Steering on 6200

The left steering arm and knuckle have a quite a bit of play in the splines. The parts are over my budget at the time and I am considering welding the joint together. What major problems would welding them create? I thought about building up the splines on the knuckle to better fit the arm but I'm not sure that would hold up. Anyone else tried either of these and what results did you have? Thanks, Sid

I'd try a steel can shim and some epoxy to fill in the wear.
Welding may not let you get it apart later ?

Thanks. Would I just wrap the metal around the shaft and put the knuckle over it? What does the epoxy do?

I have done this on some loose clutch driver splines. And maybe even a spindle arm ? I take and try and form the metal best you can to fit the old splines and work it into the grooves with some kinda tool and cut it at the ends so as to try and not overlap them. The epoxy may or may not do much ? but it will take up space for the poor fit when it hardens and maybe keep it from working loose.
