Pretty sure all B's after 201000 I have seen had aluminum tags. I never had any really ,really late ones where they could of had water pumps maybe those switched back to steel tags ?
Can you show some pictures of the tractor as there are some other features to look for.

Looks like 306 to me which would make it a very late '52. May have steel tag and steel radiator core because of Korean war going on at time.

Check on the air pump in front of the governor case. if its the roller style then its a late 52. the roller style is longer then the vane style. mijohn

Same exact problem on a 52 A. I have spent hours on this. Being in the bright sun gives the best view. Try a magnifying lens; maybe you did. Good news is that I can read the first digits and I know it is a late 52 before water pumps. Some say rub chalk on digits and rub off. Search archieves for my name and find many suggestions. Some say take of tag and read back side. I have not. Got all but one digit.

Made 310772 =/- a few. 1st digit is definately a 3. Second has to be either a 1 or 0. I think we would all agree it's a 0 of those two choices. Third has to be a 0 or 6 or 8. The top "curl" goes too far over to the right to be a 0 or 8. Look close at the numbers on your keyboard. the "tail" on a 6 goes further over to right and flatter angle than the 0 or 8. I stand by 306 ---

Thanks for all the input. It does not have a water pump and not sure yet on the radiator core. I will ck the ventilator pump also
