Ignition data

Several of you fellow YT'ers have said electrical/ignition problems are a major portion of the questions that are posted here. I don't know if that's absolutely true.

I have done a renewal to the ignition on my model 50 tractor (12 volt system and positive battery at chassis) and made several measurements as I proceeded. Not saying my readings are ideal, but maybe they will help others.

Ignition resistor measures 1.6 ohms. 6 Volt coil primary measures 1.1 ohms. Battery volts at the posts (engine off) is 12.5 volts. Ammeter in line between distributor and coil primary measures 3.85 amps with engine not running, points closed and ignition switch on. This doesn't account for the resistance of the switch, wires, points, etc. Measurements made with an expensive Fluke multimeter.

Overall I'm happy and it runs fine. Hope this helps others as they investigate troubles.
