gp oil pressure

I just got my 29 GP running but the red head will not come up at all. It has new oil, seems to run fine. Why would the oil psi not come up? It has been sitting for a long time before starting, bearings look fine, could the pump need primed? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Prime the pump by pulling the cover off the pump and putting putting grease in it. My GP will raise the indicator just turning it by hand.

+1 ET. We have two GPs. One will show pressure with the slightest turn of the flywheel. The other usually needs priming, especially if sitting for a while. Cap behind/below the flywheel facing forward. Take it off, fill with grease.

Thanks, I had a 30 that would raise it just buy turning the flywheel also, that's why this seemed strange to me. I thought even if something was bad it would raise it a little.
