3300 Combine Transmission

3300 combine will not shift into 2nd or 3rd gear.
Feels as though it is a linkage adjustment.
Any thoughts out there? Linkage or something more serious?

What are the chances of finding a used transmission someplace? (If it more than the linkage)

Chances are good its just one of the cables, they are around $300 each....

If you are in the East you can try K & J Surplus just outside of Ithaca, NY at 607-279-6232. He specializes in JD XX00 combines and 6620/7720 combines.

Make sure that the clamps that hold the cable housings, under the combine, are tight. Had this problem several times on a 3300 and a 6600.

Will check out the clamps and cables. Then make a call if something more serious.

Take shift lever cover off and see if all is in order. I found shifter pivot pin on my JD 4400 not fully in place letting the shifter develop slop and finally not work (Bent cable). Was able to get pivot pin fully engaged and put a new cable in and it works good.
