gt235 with k71 trans problem

I have a small gt235 John Deere garden tractor and my transmission was working perfectly one day and the next day not at all I replaced the drive belt and checked the fluid but no luck. It uses a tough torque k 71 transmission and I can't find even a used replacement for under $600 which is ridiculous i fixed the transmission on my 4630 cheaper. Does anybody have a K 71 or know of anywhere I could get one where I won't pay an arm and a leg?

Have you checked the tow disconnect ?

My F725 I had to tow one day and then after that problem was fixed it would not go right. Turns out the plunger for the disconnect was half stuck. So some oil and a long punch and hammer (light taps)got it freed up and moving again.

be sure to check your pulley on the top of the transmission,I had the nut back off on my gt 225 and mess up the splines on my pulley,was sure glad it didn't mess up the shaft..
