2510 electronic ignition

I put electronic ignition on my 2510. when I did it I had no timing light so just timed by ear. seemed good but wanted to run on a bit when shutting off. so last weekend in a lull while haying I timed it. was off a bit. timed it according to the book but now I have a sputter at lower idle. 1500 rpm or higher seems to run good under that, when taking off it will sputter a bit.
tried adjusting carb every which way from sunday. tweeked timing forward a bit and that helped some.
question is, does the electronic ignition need to be timed differently? I don't see why, and maybe have carb issue. plugs and wires and cap all new this past spring. with timing advanced about 10 degrees seems to run great just don't like to shut off.

Timing is set by when the plug fires (like at say 20 BTDC at X RPM), so if points or an elec box makes it fire (when coil current is interrupted) should make no difference.

What speed and what degree are you trying to time this tractor.
How do you figure ignition type has anything to do with "dieseling"
when there's no spark from either when shut off.
That's why Deere used an electric shutoff solenoid on the carb.
The problem is usually from gas being ignited by hot carbon.

I could see the idle speed increasing as timing was advanced, the increased speed would then allow it to run on. I would bet he actually had the timing up where it would run good, then retarded it too much. I would want at least 28 degrees total advance on an engine of that RPM and compression ratio. I think to many people get stuck on setting the timing based on 1950s - 1960s fuels.
