3020 steering

My 3020 takes off and turns to the right once in a while on its own. I do have a manual but it looks rather complex. I need an idea as to where to start.

I would start with re-sealing the steer motor, we can walk you through it when your ready...

Actually that looks to be the easier of the 2 options. I don't drive it often so I cant recall all the details but it seems it creeps when its starting up then worked ok. I was wondering what the chance it was all going to get worse, it came home for a tire repair and this was on the list. They had been using it, the thing has to work a couple more days this year and it could come in for the winter.
I have the JD parts page, since 2 of you jumped right on it this must not be the first time this has happened? Do we get a kit or order it in pieces.

I Should have changed out and put 2 new tires on a size narrower. I should have disregarded the fact this casing was about half good and made the change. I might pull all the service and do that this winter along with paint. I did it about 20 yrs ago and used dealer paint. I used Imron on any after that and they still look good, this one is faded.
Hopefully here is a 2640 painted about the same time with better paint that still doesn't look terrible.
Here I believe it came in with oil pouring out. Its part of the price of old stuff. As I recall it was a seal between 2 cases and we had a couple, put it right back together.

I am trying to get off my can to order a couple seal kits. It looks near like the Oring kit from a set of remotes. I see they offer up kits for both motor and the valve and it couldn't hurt to Ohaul it, the thing is far from new.
