Stuck clutch on M

A friend of mine is having clutch problems with the M he just bought. I told him I'd poke around on here a little and see what kind of suggestions I could get for getting it unstuck. From what he's told me the clutch is stuck in the engaged position. This being his first foot clutch tractor he's not sure what he's going to need to do. Is there a way to free the clutch without splitting the tractor? It was suggested to him that after he gets it functioning he should wedge a block of wood or something between the pedal and frame to hold it in the disengaged position when its parked, does that make any sense??

one of the ways to try is to get it started in gear and with the clutch depressed spike the brakes in an attempt to break it free. others say get it moving with a disc or drag behind it and work a field with the clutch depressed while moving and the heat and vibration may break it loose. Bill

You could put it in a lower gear and crank it. Put it in a field running figure eights and hit the brake hard on whichever side you are turning. Or you could block the pedal down and let it sit if you aren't in a hurry. Time and temperature changes will free up a stuck clutch once you have the pressure off the plate so the fiber disk can expand and contract with the temperature change.

Thanks for the advise! I'll pass it along and hopefully it works out for him, I don't think he's really looking forward to splitting it with all the other tractor projects he's got going on.
