Rear cast iron wheel removal

I'm sure this has been asked quite a few times. What's the best way to get these rear cast iron wheels off?

First timer here, thanks.

You're on the right track. Put tension on the 2 jack bolts then smack the end of the axle with a sledge hammer. When the locking collar is off put a hydraulic jack or porta-power on the end of the axle and a chain loop thru 2 holes on the wheel and "jack" the wheel to the end of the axle.

Why do you want to remove the wheels? If it's to change the tires, it's a lot easier to change tires with the wheels mounted on the tractor.

Ok thanks. I'll see what I can do.

I have 36 inch, 18 spoke F&H wheels I want to put on there.

Don't know JD, just asking, but is that wheel the sort where you can leave the cast iron centers on, just remove some clamps around the wheel and then remove the tire along with the rim?

Sometimes a wood splitting wedge aids the jack bolt
in removing those wheel wedges. Sometimes heating is
needed.

I would borrow my homemade puller that uses three ready rods and a plate to pull them off. Don't forget to soak with PB blaster. Ron Mn

This is the best way for me to get the rear cast iron wheels off without using a big hammer or a having a cutting torch.

Hope this helps.

Use the Jack Bolts to remove the Collar...

Rotate the wheel and stab the brake a couple times, to break the splines loose..

Then, we use a fairly light chain thru the wheel center eyes, to another tractor's drawbar and (with the loose wheel raised)..

Rotate the raised wheel and the wheel center will slide out...

Reverse, with the chain inside, to pull the wheel center back in..

I got the wheels off. They came off pretty slick. I appreciate your puller Ron, greenmech, it worked real well, thanks. And thanks to everyone for their advice.
