John Deere 60 Radiator Overflow

Last week I purchased a 1952 John Deere 60. At low rpm it sounded a little choppy, so I adjusted the idle needles on the carb, and it smoothed right out. However, upon shutting her down, I noticed a steady drip (or small stream) of antifreeze under the tractor. I took off the front sheet metal and found that the drip appeared to be stemming from the radiator overflow tube. After a few minutes the dripping stopped. This is the first time that this drip has presented itself in a week of mild activity. Why might this drip have occurred and is it cause for concern? Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Peter Markel

the normal level is usually just over the tubes. any higher and it just pukes out the overflow tube. See if it finds its own level and stops dripping. Bill
