i want to but a JD 320S, but it does not have a serial tag, is there any way to get a duplicate tag for this ?? any help thanks

Herb I assume you don't know the original serial # at all and it wasn't written down anywhere right? If so and if the block is original you can possibly get a replacement tag and find out the original serial # then from John Deere. It's only on some Dubuque's they'll do that like the 320's, 40's, 430's, etc. as that plant kept a record of the serial # and block # it left with. So John Deere will re-issue those through a long process but not the old Waterloo factory tractor. The block # is on the front right of the tractor and you should see it when you turn you head sideways as the number reads up to down. This is a picture of my block # on my 320. After you have the block # go to your local dealer and tell them you wish to apply for a duplicate tag. If they don't know about the process the Parts Manager will need to call the District JD rep. and he should have a form they'll send him for you to fill out. If the block has been replaced then the number won't match up with anything and you won't get a tag. If you get a tag it is real modern looking and has a bar code on it. But it's better than not having a tag. I have a $100 reproduction serial tag that looks pretty close to the original once you know the number...someone made these several years ago and sold them.

Would this be the same for a 420 ? If so exactly where would I look for the 2 numbers I need?
