4430 Attenuator

Loading hay late this evening and developed a hydraulic leak. Seems hose 5B off the attenuator is the culprit. By the time I figured out where the leak was coming from it was dark. I can probably figure out where this hose goes to at daylight, but thot I would get a heads up here. Where does it go and is it going to be a bear to get to? What does the attenuator do anyways?

The attenuator cushions and helps to take some of the pulsing noise out of the High pressure oil going into the cab area, feeding the brake and steer valve, you will notice that a line coming from the front pump tee's off to go into one side of the attenuator and then another line comes out to go on to feed the dash components.you can bypass the attenuator to keep the tractor on the job, it will just be a little noisier in the cab. Deere changed the lines in about 1975 so that adds to the confusion on which line that you will need, the serial number can help sort that out..

The line connects to a fitting on the bottom of the cab. Remove the sloped floor plate under the pedals to access it. It can be tricky getting the threads started when installing the new one. Start the top end first.

Thanks Tim, did not I could by-pass,will prolly do that with rain in our forecast. Thanks for explaining what the attenuator does.
