loss of trans fluid on 630 jd

Can oil be lost from transmission case into first reduction cover on 630.oil goes down slowly in transmission but no leak on the ground . Thanks to anyone

Oil is supposed to go into the first reduction cover. It can, however, go into the PTO clutch area through a bad seal in the PTO pump. Check the oil in the PTO clutch housing. If it is over full and smells like 90 WT you know where your problem is. The PTO clutch should have 30 WT engine oil in it, not gear lube. Gear lube will destroy the PTO clutch.

Yes the oil is going into the pto. The book calls for just 1 seal Don t know how to face it with oil on both sides?
