JD 70 Diesel - oily residue blowing from exhaust

Hello,

I have had my 1956 two cylinder JD 70 D for about 5 years. It does not get much use and sits inside all year. Anytime I do use it, under load it splatters oily residue everywhere as well as dripping down the side of the exhaust and manifold.
Any suggestions as to the reason for the slobbering of this oily mixture? Bad rings, injectors, bad seal internally.
Tractor runs good though.

The 'Pros' will chime in. My thought it is 'wet stacking'. Not up to hull speed and you are seeing excess diesel. HTH
 
Could be as easy as gummed up rings. Many times, these tractors are run but not brought up to good operating temps. All of the deposits and oil left on the rings does not burn off. Factor in the spray patterns of older injectirs will leave quite a bit of liquid to stick in the combustion chamber. As long as the engine can breathe freely, I would suggest a few hours in the seat at a variety of speeds and loads to help clean up the burn process. If the fuel has been sitting, dump in your favorite brand if diesel conditioner additive to prevent fuel issues.
 
On a differetn color and brand diesel, I finally noticed my owner's manual said to warm things up at 1200 RPM for a few minutes after engine start-up, then operate at 1700 RPM at load. Don't idle around, don't just lope around. Now I have no more wet slobber.
 
My 720 diesel done the same thing when I got it sent injectors
and pumps off did not fix it. Had to rebuild engine hate to tell
you good luck.
 
Diesel slobber and resultant black measles on the operator is an indication of a diesel needing an overhaul. If you work it hard and get it up to 180 - 200 degrees it will clear out the mess in the exhaust system, but as soon as you idle it down and don't work it the slobber will return. Probably needs rebored cylinders, new pistons and rings to permanently stop the problem. Expensive remedy.
 
I was told all the aforementioned causes when I had the same problem with my R,I replaced the injector pumps and was the end of the wet stacking.So does not mean it's wore out as some swear by.Ron
