I've got a 2040 with closed center HYD and it has a 2 stage clutch not the IPTO. My question is when you fully push the clutch Peddl down the lift and everything will work fine for awhile until it empties the reserve resivor then it'll quite until you let out on the first stage and engage the Trans pump and everything will start working again once pump and resivor gets oil. My question is that the way these with the 2 stage clutch are sopossed to work or is something not opening or closing so it'll get oil from the case? I know the open center is sopossed to open a valve and draw it from the case but I'm not sure about these. Thanks for any help...

You are correct in that trans pump is driven from pto drive shaft so yes prolonged stopping of pto drive shaft will render hyd's inoperable.

What hydraulic device is being used with your tractor ? If it's a front end loader " FEL" . If not properly plumbed to the tractor. Prolonged high demand hydraulic loads will run the front pump dry.

With 3 pt raised engine running look in hyd filler hole on the rear for spraying oil.
