Went to start my 1972 3020 diesel. Batteries were dead. So i figured 5yr old batt. no big deal so I repl. them both. 2-3EH 6v wired pos. to starter/neg to pos/neg ground as per org. equip. Ran tractor a few minutes and felt the alt and it was a little warm. No spark when I disconnect positive batt. cable. Came back an hour later and alt was still warm if not warmer than before. So I said well alt. been on there 10 yrs. So I repl. alt. Ran a few minutes and new alt is warm. Still no spark or arc when I disconnect batt. cable. I disconnected the hot wire that bolts on the lug on the rear of the alt and not spark. So if there is no spark when I disconnect cables where is the current going? Or maybe the draw is so small it does not spark. I'm at a loss. Anyone ever ran into this?
