Subject: WICO mag on '39 John Deere B. A crude photo is posted a day ago in another thread.
I probably should have continued with the previous thread that is below this one, but then thought I might get more responses with a new one.
I looked at the mag tonight and the tag on the mag said: Type AP and "477 B" was stamped in the tag after that. Serial number is: B 40419.
While it is complete, and the local starter/generator/alternator rebuilder says he can give it a tuneup, I have my doubts. On the last starter that I gave him, I had to retrieve it after 8 months and the repair was never done.
Any recommendations here? Standard Magneto Sales now owns what used to be WICO, so should I send it to them?

Personally I like mainely magneto out of maine. Flat labor plus parts. They have worked miracles for me.

Are you sure that it is a '39? According to the serial # list over in the Research & Info list just to the left and down of this message, 40419 should be an unstyled '37. Serial #60000 is the first styled '39 B.

Thanks for bringing that up. I should have been more clear in this post. The B serial number is 71506. The serial number on the WICO mag is B 40419.
When I was a kid, dad had a loader on this tractor and in the winter, it was used to load silage on our feed wagon.
