John Deere B Powr-Trol/Which Ports are Best?

I have a 1948 John Deere B, to which I am in the process of attaching a 45 series 1 loader. I am trying to run the loader off of the tractor's powr-trol. Where is the best place to connect to the powr-trol? Currently, I am running lines out of the two couplers on the face of the powr-trol. However, I have heard it suggested that I run the lines out of the side of the powr-trol. Can anyone explain why it would be better to connect to the side of the powr-trol rather than the face/front of it?

Sincerely,

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than myself will chime in, but I don't think it matters if you're not planning to use the rock shaft or the remotes for a cylinder.

They work better when hooked into the side like the owners manual shows. I had mine out the back at first and it's been a long time but I think it did not want to lower as smoothly ? That's why I rehooked them like the book showed.

I'd only use side ports ; 45 loader was engineered from factory to be used only, with up [one-way ] pressure ; floating oil in other side of loader cyl. is used to keep enough oil supply in Power-trol, to lift loader to full height ... ( believe me 45 loaders begin to break welds & axle bolts on tractor [I've repaired several] if used with down pressure)....

Thank you for the advice. Do I need to do anything particular in order to use the side ports, or can I just replace the pipe plugs with 90 degree union adapters and thread quick couplers onto the adapters?
