A friend of mine has a 720D Pony start he changed the water pump on it recently. After getting the new pump put on and running it some he says it has water in the pony engine oil and also the big engine oil. Was wondering what possible things to look at to find the leak. Head gaskets? Rubber seal between pony and big engine? Any other things?

The starting engine (Pony) is separate from the diesel engine, but the engine oil can drain into the diesel engine. The Pony water pump seal is a good place to start. If the seal was changed but the shaft has a worn spot this can leak water into the oil.

If you haven't drained the Pony oil into the diesel, bad head gasket or cracks in the block could be the source of that water.
