John deere LA drive shaft cover

I am restoring a 1941 Model LA. I noticed that there are two different types of covers for the drive shaft. One is plain almost a box or rectangle in shape, while the other is wider and fancier. Assuming the plain one is on the older tractors, what year did JD switch the design?

The narrow is the standard one. The wide one is used when you have the side mounted mower on. The mower runs off a pulley mounted on the drive shaft.

Thanks. Mine must not have had the side mounted mower. Anyone have a picture of what that would have looked like?

LA / mower; being parted out on Craigslist...
