Hate to get into this again but I didn't see anything in the archives. Has anyone used the TSC Hydraulic/Transmission oil #806600, all mineral SAE90 GL-1 in the two
cylinder JD's transmission and rear end? The container says it is for Ford Tractors mfg 1939-1952. $17.00 for two gallon.

Sae 90 gear oil also rated for hydraulic ?
Is there a live pto on the tractor. If so a wet clutch friendly oil in the transmission .will prevent ruining the pto clutch when the pto shaft seal fails.

On a 60 as long as it's "Slippery" it's okay...I have dropped a lot of 50/50 water and oil out of them,,didn't seem to bother them...

GL-1 gear oil works just fine in these tractors. It's what I use in the transmissions of my old tractors. It seems to quiet a transmission that makes noise on multi-weight gear lube. I've also used 50 weight engine oil (practically the same viscosity) with good results. Mike

Some one gave me 3 drums of 3150wt gear oil,, I use it in the 60C,,those old straight cut gears are a bit different than modern gears...
