Model 50 corn sheller attachment

My parents have a 237 corn picker sitting in a shed, along with a model 50 corn sheller attachment. I want to keep the 237, but somebody is interested in buying the 50. Dad bought it just a few years before he stopped picking corn, it's always been shedded (since we've had it), and as far as I know, it's in good shape mechanically and cosmetically - dad didn't have any issues with it. I have absolutely no idea what it's worth- I've heard everything from scrap price (which I know is too low) to $2000 (which seems a bit high, but I dunno, corn pickers are gaining in popularity lately.) Any ideas as to what might be a fair asking price? I know it's not easy to do without pics. All I can say is it's not rusted out, not banged up, the mechanisms work, and the drum (or whatever the main kernel-separating part is called) isn't worn out. Thanks, Mike

Mike, it's hard to know a value without seeing pictures, as you mentioned. This being said, given the description you have given a realistic value would likely be in the $500-$1000 range, assuming the sheller is complete and in good condition. It also may vary according to where you are located. There are folks actively looking for these so don't give it away for scrap price. Two places to also check for value would be the Corn Picker Forum and also on Facebook where there is a group for corn pickers as well. Hope this helps. Mike

I bought one on a farm sale a year ago for $100. It was shedded and very nice. It was sold after the 620 and picker and no one was interested. I never thought I would even have a chance at it as money was a little short at that time. I would think you could get $500 or a little more for a good shed kept one.My 237 picker is in the back of the shed all oiled up and waiting to be used again(Maybe someday). Tom

You can do as you see fit but I would try for 750 dollars or best offer without seeing it. Maybe more if it looks factory new or close to it. If you take it to an auction there is always the possibility nobody there would bid more than scrap price. Pickers and attachments are real hit and miss on price unless it is something I want then it is always sky high. I would love to buy it but the crops do not look good so we are in survival mode for now.
