John Deere 2010 pro slips

A friend of mine owns a 2010 and we mowed a 12 acre field with it and bailed about 60 bails and the pto stopped working. If we disconnect the Bailer the pto spins but once we hook up the bailer it engages and but does not spin but wants to spin. We cleared the bailer so there is absolutely no hay in it and it still will not operate under a load. We have used this tractor and bailer together for the last 4 years. We took the plug out by the brake pedal/under the seat area and the oil level is about 2 inches below the plug where it usually is. The research I found on this site says there is a separate plug/resavior for the pto but we do not know where that is. Any help would be greatly appreciTed we need to get this bailed by tomorrow.
Thanks
Marc

Sounds like PTO clutch failure,,an ornery job to fix on one of those,,better find some thing else to put on the baler...

Good advice from Tim. I am going through similar PTO issues with my 2010D RC, but my issue is bearings in the PTO finals. It turns OK and runs the Hesston Round Baler, but just got really noisy finishing a field for a neighbor whose baler broke down.

The SM-2035 gives excellent instructions for repairing the PTO, with pictures. However, the job is going to be lengthy and time consuming. You have to remove everything on the back of the tractor, including rock shafts and internal hydraulic lines, just to get the PTO housing off. I picked up my SM new on Ebay some time ago, but had to wait until a good one at a good price came around. Totally invaluable reference.

I'm lining up a tractor to borrow from a friend who deals in old trucks and tractors because my other tractors are either too small (Ford 8N) or do not have remote hydraulics ('44 JD A) and are not suitable for the haymine and "Rounder".
