john deere a tires

Hi everyone. Looking at some rear tires for my John Deere A. I have a couple questions. Looking at BKT tires. I see they are made in India. They are cheaper $$$ then titans and also read some good reviews on them. Anyone have any experience with these
Also looking st size 15.5x38. It has 12.4x38 now. But i read that these will.fit on the rim ok and will.give better traction for pulling. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
.

I can't speak on the quality of the BKT tires. As for putting 15.5's on your tractor I would advise against it. Odds are you have either 10 or 11-inch rims and both are too narrow for a 15.5-38 tire. Also, a brand new tire, regardless of size, is not a good plan for competitive tractor pulling. You would be better served with an old, hard set with much less tread. A new tire's bars are soft and too tall and will flex under a hard load where the older, harder set will flex very little and add to pulling power, not detract. A new tire very seldom beats an old tire on a pulling track. Mike

Plus the TRACTOR does not WEIGH enough to warrant 15 " rubber, it will bounce all or and the tires will out last the tractor no doubt so whats the use. You will pay as much for cheap junk 15,s as you will for 12.2-38s FIRESTONE and TITANS aren't far behind.Buy AMERICAN man wear are you from?

Chez-- I sold many different kinds of tractor tires in the 20+ years I was in the tire business. My 1st preference is Firestone. We had far less trouble with them than any other brand. There is nothing wrong with BKT's except they come from over seas. I would rather have them than some of the other American brands. If you have stock rims--DO NOT put 15.5X38's on the rims you have.

In my opinoin it depends on what you plan on doing with your tractor, a parade or show tractor would probably be just fine with bkt or speedway
tires. If you work it firestones are the ticket, they ride ruff but last forever

btk's are o.k. we've worn out a couple and they held up alright they won't last as long as the titans, their lugs are narrower and spaced farther apart causing them to wear faster on the highway, place them side by side and you will see the difference, also on the ones we used the tire bead doesn't cover the edge of the rim, I would still use them with enough cost difference

These are 13.6 Firestone Field and Road, not the cheapest but closest to originals. Have Titans on my 50 and like them too.

I still have 15.5 tires on 9 inch rims for over 30 years. They work fine. I dont know where people assume that you cannot put larger tires on 9, 10 or 11 inch rims. They must have talked themselves into that notion. Do what you want with what you got.

My uncle put BKT's on his deere and did not like them at all, said the tractor would slide really bad with them.
