My dad has a 1938 John Deere, he is trying to take the transmission out and wondering if anyone has worked on this before. he can't cant seem to get the transmission out? Any suggestions would be appreciated. He has called many dealers and ordered a manual and it show nothing on how to remove the transmission? This is a 1938 Unstyled L.

There is no such thing as removing the TRANS, the CASE stays and the TRANS comes apart one piece at a time, and by the way the RADIATOR is not part of the TRANS, hope this helps.

I talked to my dad he said that the rear end of the tractor comes out the same hole as the transmission possibly its all one piece. He was wondering if the transmission doesn't come out then how would you replace bearings or the rear end of the tractor? Thanks for any help

the trans and rear end us the same case you need to take the axels out and diff. then you can get to the gears and brgs dont pay att to people that don't know what they are talking about
