4020 air pre-cleaner

How does the pre-cleaner/dust bowl come off of the air stack on a 4020? Mine must be stuck, cause I can't get it off and if I have to pull the hood off, I have to hold the hood up enough to get to the clamp to remove the whole stack and pre-cleaner off the top of the air filter assembly. It can't be designed to come apart like I am doing.

Mine slips off. Might try soaking with pb blaster or similar for a few days.

Put a wooden block under base and tap up with a big hammer.

Usually bump with heel of hand alternating sides.
My hands hurt more than years ago so I use a rubber mallet
if they are really tight.
Block of wood and hammer works too.
Whatever you hit with, alternate sides.

Thanks for the reply's. I will have to take it off and put it in a vise to tap it off. I thought it may have been threaded or something cause it is so tight. Thanks again.

after you get the precleaner off - use a die grinder with a sandpaper flapper wheel to clean the oxidation off of the inside diameter of the aluminum base- then it will install and remove to the correct depth and will not seize on again
