Been a long time since this tractor was in Iowa.

This is the first 4020 Powershift Tractor built. The first one is a syncro (65000) and JD has it. They would like to have this one.

This is the first powershift tractor built by John Deere. Still being used. Not original, been repainted once years ago and had the fenders replaced with single headlight fenders.
 
Was talking to a guy once that supposedly knew the owner of that tractor and he said that deere offered the guy a cool million for it but he turned it down. Probaby just a bs story though.
 
Yes, still 24 volt and generator. Has been repainted some years back and has the newer one headlight fenders.

Still being used so it will be in work clothes with new tires, battery boxes and seat.
 
As far as I know that figure has never been made but there have been substantial offers that have been turned down.
 
I talked to the man that owned it a few years ago.He also had a collector tractor auction coming up and at one time was a JD dealer if I remember correctly.He called on a low houred tractor I had for sale.I would guess that would be a rumor as to the million as any good business man would have taken the money and ran.JD is having enough trouble with dealers having too much high priced inventory.The guy in charge wanted me to bring a 4000 to display as they wanted one of every model but I had already sold it so gave him a couple names that would have nice ones.It is amazing what a certain serial number will do to a tractors value.Mr Keller collection has many early models.The first 1206 and possibly first 2510 were in Iowa but think 2510 went to Kellers.The first 4000 brought around $40K a few years ago in Waterloo.
 
Do you think any of the guy's that built her ever thought she would still be earning her keep some 50+ years later. It's kind of amazing that a first of any kind of tractor could do that.
