john deere a shutter

I bought a 1948 John deere A and it does not have the radiator shutter.
Did all A's had the shutter?By not having the radiator shutter, will this affect the
operation of the tractor?

No all A do not have shutters.I have two A . One is a 36 & one is a 49 and neither have shutters.i think it was a option depending how far north you.

All A's, B's and G's came with shutters as they did not have thermostats. A lot of them had the shutters removed when picking corn and never had them replaced.

AMEN...!!!!

There was NO Way to clean corn silk, etc out of the radiator (at least not on an A or B on a Mounted Picker, with the Bonnet on it.!

You can use it without the shutters, just keep the Idle settings a little on the Lean side..

They DO run better when the coolant temp is above 170 tho..

The early unstyled came with curtains, in about mid 37 mechanical shutters were installed from the factory.
