JD 1070 Seat Switch

Looking at the wiring diagram I cannot see what the "Defeat" position on the seat switch is used for. There is a metal bar that elevates the seat away from the switch for the "Defeat" position. When do you use the defeat position on this switch and what is it for?
I see nothing in the operators manual for this feature.

Suppose you wanted to use the PTO when the tractor is stationary, no operator in the seat - like maybe when sawing or splitting wood.

Yes, I can see how that would work........Thanks for the info.......I am still trying to get my clutch unstuck. I blocked the clutch down and ran it to get it warm and try rocking it back and forth but so far no luck. I will likely use plan b next to bypass the neutral start switch and tap the starter with it in gear to try to break it loose. I am going slow so as not to screw up anything.
