I have a 72 4000 that my grandpa bought new. It came with diff lock and narrow front. I have since put a wide front on it. Syncro and diesel. The ser is B213R, 270237R. This must be one of the very last 20 series tractors made? Tractor had a cab on it it's whole life i recently removed the csb and around 9100 hrs. Just trying to decide what to do with it. If I sell it what's it worth? It's in good condition

One of last 50 serial numbers used for 4000 and 4020.I have had people that are looking for tractors over 270000 with 270288 the last one used and I believe it is still at factory.2 scvs help and if all original or restored to like new also help determine a value.A real nice 4000D syngro sold at Mecums last sale for around $20K and tires were not new.If it has been O.H. and clutch replaced all factor in.I just bought a nice 71 4000 D syngro tires 50% needed batteries straight tin original tach around 9K hours needs paint has new clutch and O.H. 2 scvs for around $10K.Serial # number plus being a 72 help but if not first or last condition is more important. The Power Shift adds more than it should as there were only 403 made. I have seen a nice 72 P.S. bring over $40K.All tractors are down some but still strong. If buyer thinks he gave too much and you don't think it was enough is pretty close.

Tires are like new, only thing I don't have is fenders for it. I thought about doing an oh and getting it painted but was curious if it would pay off but being it's a 27000 plus serial number I think maybe it would be. Should I put the rollamatic back on that it came with or leave the wide front on it? I knew ps were rare and so were gas 4000's. Thanks for the input...

If the paints in nice original condition leave it....so neat to see them as they were - as long as it's still presentable. It can always be painted up to look new but only original once if it's nice. Do you have pictures of it? Location too?

If you'd like feel free to email me, my email should be open.

Yanking the factory cab off will reduce the reduce the value. The factory rollo-matic should go back underneath as well.
Have you ran the serial numbers with the Two Cylinder Club ?

Why not offer the prospective purchaser the option of either the wide frt axle or R-O-M frt end or both? I might be incorrect but IIRC records don't reflect which frt axle it came with.

The fenders should be single headlight so get the right ones or just let buyer get them .If paint is original leave it as it is hard to get one painted good enough for many collectors. The roll-omatic could just be sold along with it.SDGreen would be a good person to sell it to as he has some nice ones

I think it would clean up nice small dent in
front of hood, dash looks very good was
inside most of the time.

If it had a Hiniker cab on it, it's probably worth more without it.
If the front axle you put on it is a Deere, it probably increased its value, even if it spent its whole life with a roll-o-matic. Deere didn't record what front axles they had because they could be changed so easily.

I tried finding the invoice from when my
grandpa bought it but no luck. I do have
the original owners manual with the day of
sale. He kept track of alot of stuff in the
manual. The dealership where he bought it is
no longer in business also.

A 72 sold in ohio a few months ago.It was a one owner with 2800 hours.It brought $8800.
